As I type this (I'm at work, logging new books into the computer system) I just checked two copies of An Inconvenient Truth by Mr. Al Gore.

For the record, I hope to get an E4300 and a new mobo with my tax return money, but I need a new graphics card too and don't know which should come first. And of course something will come up that I cant spend the money from my tax return.

Will do, haven't seen him around tonight. Will drop him a PM but do you know what mobo he is planning on using? And what cooling?

I wouldn't mind at all to run a suite of benches at a few varying levels of overclocks. Been wanting to put together a nice set of graphs in Excel to show my parents/uncle/grandfather what overclocking is all about.

I will be putting my E4300 under the same water kit that keeps my D805 nice and chilly, so I expect a good OC if I get a decent chip.

I looked at the Shin-Etsu X23 sellers you noted and found they have different versions of X23. Some have X23-7762 and some have X23-7783D.

Which version did you test? Do you know what the differences are between these versions?

Thanks!

Guy

Come on, there's nothing like a nice toasty massively OC'd 805D to warm you up on these cool winter mornings. It works so well I almost never have to turn on the "other" forced-air heating. :lol:

The difference between 7762 and 7783D is like comparing a version 2.0 and 2.2. Not much, but its a slightly improved goop. The affects between the two are negligible. But we used 7762.

@Mondoman
I think I'll stick with propane heat thank you.

I feel the need to bump this since it should be stickied, and I couldn't find it when I wanted to once.

Thanks for all the work.

I know someone else asked, but I'm a little curious as to why Ceramique beat AS5 even though I've seen at least 3 other reviews that said otherwise. I know you mentioned different coolers, but do you think different CPUs are the reason. Maybe AS5 doesn't do as well for Conroes as it does for other cpu's?

Ceramique also reaches it's optimal cooling quicker than AS5. Any face to face contact that is smoother than 600 grit sandpaper will make it, performs better with Ceramique.

OK ive bought Shin Etsu X23-7783D from Ajigo, and have a Tuniq Tower 120. Should i lap my HSF for optimal performance, and if so, how so. Is rice size and press best way to go with X23-7783D?

Thx
