Recently I've been having daily, sometimes multiple time a day, connection interuptions with the windows troubleshooter telling me the DNS Server in not responding. It seemed to start happeneing suddely about two weeks ago, though I just moved to a new area with a new ISP, and can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours. It also affects all my connected devices, wifi and eathernet. The only solid fix so far has been time. I've scanned the forums and haven't found anything that works for this situation. I'll list my specs and attempted fixes below. Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Specs:
ISP - Charter/Spectrum in New York
Modem: Arris Surfboard SB6141
Router: Asus RT-AC664
PC: Listed in signiture block

Attempted Fixes:
1. Turn everything off and back on again...
2. Command Prompt (/flushdns, /registerdns, /release, /renew)
3. Changed DNS server from ISP defualt to GoogleDNS, OpenDNS, and back again.
4. Verified firmware version in router (can you update modem firmware?)
5. Checked drivers for updates
6. Stern looks
7. Harsh language

Solution
If your connection is getting interrupted then obviously you wont be able to reach the DNS Server.

Run in command prompt: ping -t 8.8.8.8

You should get a constant reply with low stable latency, when your connection dies and you get again the DNS Server not responding error check the command prompt, if there is no answer then you have simply lost connectivity, that is most likely due to a problem with your ISP, but to be sure try in that moment a ping from your PC to your router, if you get a successful ping then the problem is between your router and the ISP.

Sorry should have phrased that differently. I meant that I cannot access websites, media, etc. because of the DNS issue. At least not easily.

I will definitely try to ping that IP next time and post the results. Thank you.
