Damage to Motherboard?

So I'm doing a new build and I did not install the processor correctly as I didn't know the function of the clip and the screw holding down the processor cover. So I went to tighten down the screw forcefully with the processor cover and noticed shavings coming out of the processor screw, did I damage my motherboard?

You very well could've damaged it. You shouldn't have to force anything when building a PC, just a little bit of pressure. I would first check for bent pins on the CPU/Motherboard socket. Does it work when you try to boot it with the stuff installed properly?
