Damaged CPU surface?

I had a recent accidental spillage (happened when I was asleep) and a small amount of liquid entered the top vent of my case. I did not know it had entered the next morning, powered up, went okay for two minutes, then it powered off. Next time, I had black and white screen artifacts everywhere, and then it never powered on after.

Motherboard is definitely kaputt, and I'm replacing it. But I noticed some residue on the CPU surface (how absolutely convenient) and I left it in it's plastic case to dry. Three days later, I see this.

Notice the bottom right hand corner has some abrasion / discoloration.
My main question is, is this usable or this dead?

Thank you.

It hard to tell from the picture lighting if the pads are burned off or if it residue that can be cleaned off. You may be lucking that they're just power/ground pads in the corner. If so, the CPU may power up, because there's lots of power/ground pads on a CPU. If it's a signal pad and it can't make a solid connection to the socket, then the CPU is toast. Give it a try and good luck.
