Hello,

I have xfx geforce gt220 graphics card, it was working just fine until I noticed that the fan is not working, so I replaced with another one from an old graphics card and it worked.

Anyway for some reason I was playing with fan, and accidentally fan wires touched each other, there was a spark, then PC restarted, there was nothing to appear on screen. After that every time when I try to turn on my PC it give me video card sound error.

I tested my old graphics card on my system, and it worked fine. So now I have a damaged graphics card. What should I do?
BTW I didn't notice anything special nothing melted, no bad capacitor, nothing at all.

Please help me to get my video card worked again.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you!

I dont understand how you could short the fan on the gpu, but with the spark, you just sent an electrical surge through your system and sometimes this will lock up whatever your PC is doing. You can reset your PC by turning off the psu and wait 30 secs. Turn it back on and things should go back to normal as this allows time for any built up electrical charge to completely dissipate. If it doesnt work and still seeing a video card error, good chance that you have fried the VRMs on the gpu itself.
