I built a computer for my dad to operate as a media server. Everything was functioning correctly and then we had a power outage. When we got power back the video stopped working. Naturally, my first thought was a bad video card. So, I bought a cheesy low end card that uses PCI power since he doesn't game on this computer. Still nothing. So, I swap my GTX770 with the possibly bad video card I just bought. Low and behold the crappy one works on my rig and the GTX770 fires up on his computer. The only thing I can deduce is there is something wrong with the PCI and not getting proper power or something for the card. Where the GTX770 uses 1 8 pin and 1 6 pin for power and doesn't require PCI power. Any thoughts about this? Any help would be appreciated.
