Hello, I'm hoping someone can provide some insight for an ongoing problem I've been having. It seems like I've had multiple HDDs become damaged or corrupt while transferring files. I can't seem to make sense of it and it's been difficult to look up online myself. I had one drive recovered and when I asked them about what was happening I didn't get much help. I've used crystaldiskinfo to see the drives health and they seem fine, but a few out of nowhere had warnings or error in Reallocated sectors count.

My issue seemed to start last year when I had issues with my intel 13900K cpu, seemed like it was running hot too long without my realizing. Was getting lot of BSOD and trouble booting. I tried to troubleshoot but eventually replaced my cpu and motheboard and upgraded my AIO to an H150i. The system seems fine now but I've still been having issues with transferring files where it will fail to transfer or hang and eventually have issues with that drive. This has also happened with fairly new drives. is there anything I should be looking out for or could test?

I had one new external drive that failed on the first transfer, and had issues ever since. I don't know if it was just a bad drive from the start. The drive I used to put my recovered files on had issues after about a month, it had extra space so I was putting more files on it and had issues within a month. I believe I had a red warning in reallocated sectors count in Crystaldiskinfo.

also now that I think about it Ive had drives that weren't showing up in Crystaldiskinfo but seemed to function ok. I had a multiple HDD enclosure, which i eventually swapped out for a new single to test and seems to have improved a little bit.

It seems like viewing media on these drives is fine but when I start transferring is when I sometimes have issues. transferring to a SSD has seemed to work ok, but when it's two HDDs it seems to have more chance of an interruption.
