Question Dark areas of the game go to slightly grey ?

My IPS monitor during gampeplay in dark areas of the game goes to slightly lighter black, and back, depend much of black area is. Transition is visible.
Is this default t IPS matrix behavior?

Coloured and lit areas are fine only very dark areas are affected by this.

Is this a defect?

More like a limitation of IPS technology in general, than defect of a specific monitor.

Now, IPS, while great at color accuracy (best of three: TN, VA and IPS), has the same, poor levels of contrast as TN panel has, max 1000:1. Due to that, black won't be black, but instead gray or some form of blue. And transition from one tone to other would be noticeable.

Now, article shows TVs, but same applies to TN and IPS panel monitors as well.

VA panel monitor, designed as best from both worlds (TN and IPS), does not have those contrast ratio issues, since at minimum, VA panels have 3000:1 contrast ratio, and are able to display the deepest and richest blacks.
