So... I've fought these guys by the multitude. There was a point
where I couldn't even rest before another one would show up, and I
don't think the character's reached level 7 yet. I eventually made my
way to Mournhold, and the tide's stopped for now.

Point is, I read somewhere that in the PC GotY Edition of the game,
you don't get attacked by the assassins until Level 6, and that they
stay away from you from then until you're at Level 19 or something
like that. Is that true? I've got Morrowind, Tribunal and recently
Bloodmoon installed. Is there any way to get the same sort of thing,
if I decide to start anothyer character?

If, after the first attack, you talk to a guard about the Dark
Brotherhood, they'll stay away from you for quite a while after that. I
don't know of any way to avoid the first attack. I have the PC original
edition.

BUT...

If you can kill them, you don't even *want* to stop the attacks. Their
armour is worth a fortune in the early stages, either for wearing
(especially if you are good at Light Armour), and in the later stages
they carry weapons like Adamantium Jinkswords or Daedric Wakizashis,
again both of these sell for very large sums...

Really? I knew their armour was worth a fair bit. The last couple of
times I've played the game (never finished yet), I've always run to
Ebonheart after the first couple of attacks. I was playing a
nightblade at one point and found teh armour to be kinda useful.
Probably one of the best full suits I'd found up to that point.

I was kind of hoping that installing Bloodmoon and the patch would add
a fix that delayed the assassin attacks by a few levels. They're
pretty annoying, especially if you're playing a non-combat type of
class. Ah well. Thanks for the tip about the weapons, though. Maybe
I'll try soaking the attacks with a combat character to see what I
get.,

Yeah, so do I. I was sort of hoping that installing Bloodmoon would
patch the game to delay the attacks a bit, and make things a bit
easier on lower level characters. Problem is, I like the new journal
system too much NOT to install Tribunal right away.

That, and the pack rats you can buy in Mournhold.

You can install Tribunal to get the journal and simply not tick the Tribunal
mod in the Data Files section of the Morrowind launcher. This means you get
the technical improvements of Tribunal without the actual quest...until you
want it....

The level six delay is on the xbox.

Which is frustrating when you're at level three and *want* to go to
Mournhold.

You know you can install Tribunal (to get the journal emhancements) and then
just not tick it in the Data Files section of the menu. That way you'll get
the technical advantages but not the actual quest until you want it.

Even with the Tribunal data files unchecked I still get attacked by Dark
Brotherhood assassins when I sleep. And I get that guy who tells you how
to get to the mainland (And I got myself teleported over there once, by
accident, and came straight back: I am not ready to tackle that since I
want to get somewhere in Morrowind first). So the un-ticking doesn't
really seem to work.
