Dash Cam sets dates to default

As stated in the title, my dash cam never keeps the dates. It is a simple one with 1080p and has no GPS. Doesn't matter how many times I change it, the next day it is set to default. Other settings however are fine such as no sound recording or resolution.
The SD card is a Class 10 from Verbatim, which successfully records everything on the road and is compatible with any dash cam.

Time and date is one big reason to get a dashcam WITH GPS.

My cam may be simple but it was not cheap. Getting a GPS would cost me 3x more.

You can see if the manufacturer has a firmware update to fix this problem, since it sounds like a bug. Or it may be documented that if the camera loses power it resets. I don't know. But I think you will have to work with the camera manufacturer. Posting a symptom here, without even identifying the camera make and model, won't get you any help.

That is my thought as well about losing power and resetting but so far no success finding an update for it. Never the less, this should not happen regardless.

It is interesting that it says "rechargeable" in the manual. That would say it should have a built-in battery to keep the clock going. Sounds like the built-in rechargeable battery has failed.

That's why I can not understand why it will not save it. My father has the same cam and has the exact same problem. Very unlikely that both our cams have the same issue with the battery. Other than that, it is recording everything and keeps the settings we want.
