Data Access From Old Hard Drive

I have anew ssd and kept my hard drive with lots of data. The bios sees the old drive but I can't find it in my computer. The old drive had windows vista. I had a computer store install windows 7 on the new ssd and somehow that took Vista off of the old drive. They did a data recovery procedure and tell me that data is on the old drive. How do I get to it?

I can't find it in windows, but I think formatting is not the issue.

Yes, I can see it in Disk Manager. It does not have a drive letter and I don't have the option to assign one. I was able to reassign drive letters for the CD rom drives.

so only possibility is that the drive is not formatted

try a data recovery program like recuvva to see if you can get some data off it

Nice job by the installers. Another option is to put a live linux on a flash and install testdisk to it. I've recovered entire partitions with it. Puppy linux is small and I keep a flash with it for repairing windows systems and any storage device.

Can you show us the contents of sector 0? You could use a disc editor such as DMDE (freeware).
