Hi all,

I recently put my laptop into a local repair shop to have my data backed up as the computer wasn't working that great. After the back up he reinstalled the OS and put what he backed up on the Laptop. The issue i have now is nothing will open!

The backed up folder is called RAW files. I don't recognise any of the files or folders there - (see pic). Basically just wanted my pictures backup, but now it looks like i may have lost them!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there again, @Nathan_Thomas!

I'd recommend you try using a Ubuntu Live CD and see if that will help you access your files properly. If it still doesn't work, maybe you should consider a professional data recovery service. If the files are so important to you, they might be your best bet on getting them back.

Hope this helps you. Best of luck!

Welcome to the TH Community, @Nathan!

I believe you need to ask the guy that backed up your files about the program that he used. If it's a specific software, you might need to install it on your laptop before being able to see your files properly. You could also go back to the local repair service shop and ask them to copy the files back onto your laptop in a readable & accessible format.

Hope it works. Good luck!

OK. So it turns out he used a program called EaseUS Data Recovery.

I have since downloaded this software and tried to run this on the files. After the scan is complete it produces the same result as the picture above and the files are all listed at (FILE0001, FILE0002 etc) and nothing can be opened.

At a bit of a loss now i think. Any other ideas? Or should i admit defeat?

P.s: Also went back top repair shop and said this is the only format that he has, and that he can't open them either!
