I figured out that with XP Pro I HAVE to do a clean install of Vista. I have one of the RC versions but don't remember if it is 1 or 2, but my question is this:

How did you backup your XP system? With the FAST wizard? Another program? Do the commercial programs restore on Vista (such as Acronis which I have the trial version of that expires in 2 weeks)?

Good question. I made an image backup of my HD then a clean install of Vista RC1. Vista read my image so I copied the files needed. Used Symantec Save and Restore to create the image.

I agree, critical data should have at least two backups in different locations. Currently I backup my notebook with a new image monthly to a seperate partition and to a partition on my PC; daily increments are made also. Each month I burn the Image to DVD and file it at my in-laws. Vista had no problem reading the image prepared for it, which is the subject of this topic.
