I've got a WD 6TB data drive in my server
Gigabye X570 Aurus Ultra
AMD Ryzen 3700X
AMD HD 6500
32 GB memory

The issue is that a few days ago my media streaming application stopped work. After investigating it seems the drive dropped offline ( right out of Disk Management)
THen today while doing some backups, the drive stopped responding and although the drive letter is there, when I try to click on a folder i get
".. is not accessible .
a device which does not exist was specified"

The drive still shows in Disk Manager but I cannot do anything. A reboot seems to restore it.

Does it seem likely to be
The Drive
THe Cable
The Port

My boot drive (SSD) and the 8TB mass storage drive is fine...

Anyone have any recommendations? I changed the SATA port yesterday and it's been fine for a day. It did this last time too, working four about 3-4 days then just went inaccessbile. Doubtful it's the cable, right?

Examine the SMART report with a tool such as CrystalDiskInfo:
https://crystalmark.info/en/download/

Look for reallocated, pending or uncorrectable sectors.

If your data are important, clone the drive with a tool such as HDDSuperClone or ddrescue. Both tools understand how to work with bad heads/media.

Thank you for the guidance.

I took a look at the Smart tool you recommended and here are the stats. Now sure what Worst and threshold is and how bad my drive is?
