data recovery from external hard drive

I have purchased my WD 1TB hard drive 2 years before It was working good recent past, I plugged it in now and Windows7 didn't detect it. I used every thing which I could but result is same every time. it won't show up in explorer.

Can you please tell me what is the model of that HDD?
First I'd suggest to check Disk Management and see if the drive is recognized there. Once you do that, share the status of the drive there.
You should also try plugging it with another USB cable and maybe try it on another computer to see how it will react there.
I'd recommend to test the WD external using Data LifeGuard diagnostics as well: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=EtH2AR
This will determine if the drive has any damage on it or not.

As for the data recovery, If none of the above work and you cannot access the drive, I'd turn to a professional recovery company for help...
