Data recovery on seagate hard drive

I bought a seagate external hard drive about 4yrs ago. I came bck home this weekend to open some document that I had saved on it, unfortunately. Cldnt open it, the drive seem to be faulty. - Is there a solution to this in order to retrieve bck all my life work that was stored, even now that it showing blank.

I had a similar issue with a newer seagate freeagent go model. I believe it was caused by a corrupter partition table / file index, something along those lines.

I resolved it by doing a check disk in the command line on the external volume. Make sure to use /F option to fix errors and /R to recover bad sectors.

It's been almost a week since you posted but I hope this helps.
