Data Transfer between drives?

Hi All,
I have just put a new SSHD in my wife's Laptop (Acer Aspire 5750G) - and after reinstalling Windows 10, ive attempted to load the 82-odd-gig of data (that we copied from her old HD) off my PC back onto her Laptop.

I've done this by way of taking the SSHD out of the laptop and installing it into my pc where my media 4TB media drive usually sits. I really have no understanding when it comes to networking / Homegroups etc, even so - that was the first way i tried to copy the data over.
I wound up figuring the quickest way would be to swap the drive into my PC and copy the data over. (The same way I transferred the data to my PC in the first place).

The data has transferred to the SSHD no worries (as far as I can tell), however when I put the SSHD back into the laptop, the folders are not shown.
Windows explorer does show an increase in the amount of data the SSHD is holding ( ie the "xxxGB free of xxxGB" ) however the files & folders do not show up where I copied them to.

Any assistance with this would be awesome,

Rick

1. Your reference to the "old" HDD that was installed in the laptop refers to the original HDD installed in the laptop, yes? So it contained the OS (Win 7?), all programs, and whatever data was created by your wife?

2. Can we assume that HDD was (is) non-defective & viable? Presumably the basic (only) reason you installed an SSHD to replace the HDD was for add'l capacity and/or faster speed?

3. Do you still have the HDD?

4. Have you installed a new OS onto the SSHD? Is it currently operating in the laptop?

5. Was there some special reason why you copied the "data" from the laptop's HDD over to your PC and then to the SSHD you installed in your PC?

6. Had you not originally considered simply connecting the original HDD as a USB external device attached to the laptop and then cloning its contents to the SSHD which you had installed in the laptop? I'm assuming of course that the HDD was non-defective & contained a viable OS + all the data - the 82 or so GB that you referred to.
