data transfer speed issue

Hi, there I just bought a new system and i feel the transfer speeds are quite low when transfering from external drive to blue harddrive as I'm getting 20mb/s fom pendrives and 40mb/s from external hardrives even tried using usb.3 with no luck and same speed may something I'm doing wrong with that. btw I'm using windows 8 and the rig configs that I'm using are:-

i7 4790k
msi gtx 970 4g gaming
msi z97 gaming 5 board
8 gb Corsair Vengence RAM
hd blue 1 tb

may I know what should be the ideal speed for this kind a rig and what factors increase the speed as it takes to long to transfer data.

Your speed looks normal. Sometimes system locks transfer speed to ~70% of disk usage so your computer doesn't freeze and you can continue doing more stuff.
