Database access help in visual c++

Hello,
I am new to c++ programming and visual studio too. I am making a project which uses SQL server database and i want to handle that database through c++... how do i do that? i have tried searching it on net but have not found any tutorial which starts from the basics...
any help will be appreciated!!
