Anyone bought one? I got one today from Play.com and its not being
recognised by my playstation (new slimeline - SCPH 70003) and neither is the
software disc. Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem, and how
they solved it?

Thanks

Boot AR Max, w/o pen drive in PS2. Then when you get to memory area install
pen drive. This is per Datel.
I have 0 problems with mine.

From Codejunkies..
Q: My MAX Drive is not being recognised by the PC application or the PS2?
A: Please contact Datel Customer Support directly with a detailed report of
what is happening (be sure to explain what you are doing on both the PC and
the PS2), and where and when your MAX Drive was purchased. Please note we
do not support any other manufacturer's pen drive and will only answer
technical support queries in relation to Datel's MAX Drive.

Contact from here...
http://uk.codejunkies.com/support_faq.asp?c=GB&cr=GBP&cs=£&r=1&l=1

From experience, they are pretty quick to reply with any problems. It may be
that your drive is faulty, in which case, send it back to play.com and get
another.

Did you get two discs in the pack? Make sure you are not confusing the ps2
disc with the pc disc, both are the same small size.

Yea, i'd sent them an email before i came onto the group - ur right they are
fast. and ive got it working now - apparently it just takes a couple of
reboots to get the PS2 to recognise the disc.

I forgot to mention that bit. Sometimes it does not like being put fresh
into the ps2 drive while ps2 is switched on but needs to be actually in the
drive already from a cold boot.
Glad you got it sorted.

Which begs a reissue of a previously discussed, but never resolved issue:
when transferring the cheat codes to a memory card from the pen drive, the
PS2 reads the cheats as a corrupt file. Any thoughts? I've followed the
Datel instructions from codejunkies to the letter. No help at all. It does
read saves nicely, but that's not what I'm after at this point.

Thanks for the help.

Are you aware that with the usb drive you can only transfer cheats over only
to the official AR memory card? The USB drive is in itself useless without
the proper cheat memory card and was only released so people did not have to
enter codes on the card by hand.

I'm not sure that's accurate. The USB drive allows you to obtain codes
downloaded onto your computer and transfer them to the PS2's memory card,
and vice-versa, but I've done this with any standard memory card...not just
a Datel card. The MAX Drive doesn't come with a memory card--just two disks
(one for the PS2, one for the PC) and the USB drive. In fact, you don't
even need the USB drive but can use your own--it is the software that is the
key. My only complaint is that when you do use a code from Datel's Web site
or the CD, and store it on your PS2 memory card, the save game icon is a big
ugly Action MAX "block" instead of the icon from the actual game.

That's odd -- I don't have the "official AR memory card", but the cheat
codes work just fine saved to my official Sony memory card. I was able
to play Zone of the Enders with the Infinite Ammo, 9999 Enemies
Defeated, and Ultimate Jehuty codes enabled.

(I purchased an AR MAX EVO for the PS2 -- that's the version with the
included 16MB USB drive -- just this past weekend.)

Please don't! You offer enough useful advice and correct information on
this newsgroup to make up for a few errors now and then. No tomatoes coming
from me...

Thanks for the continued assistance. All of your advice has given rise to
new questions that continue to plague me. Currently, I use the PC disk and
software to download what appears to be a complete block of encrypted codes
for all that codejunkies has, and transfer it to the stick. When I try to
transfer that info to the memory card with the PS2 disk, the PS2 reads that
data as corrupt when I browse the card. I've tried to load it to the card
in its parent (crunched) form, as well as uncrunching it to the card. To
date, I have yet to find any codes on either CD. Any help there? What am I
doing wrong? Thanks again!!!!
