daughter has forgot her password

My daughter started uni in september so i brought her a 2nd hand laptop, 3 days ago i get a very panicked phone call that she has forgot her password and as such cant access any of her previous done work. she is currenly borrowing a friends laptop but it now 4 months behind on work.

I have no idea what to do, can anyone help?
