I'm trying to wipe my HDD and my PC doesn't have a DVD drive so USB is my only option. I've used Rufus and Universal USB Installer. I also format the USB under FAT 32 everytime I try.

When installing using Rufus I use the ISO tool and don't just copy paste the file.

I've also turned off safe boot up (Pressed shift while clicking restart) on windows 8.1 . In Bios I se the USB as the first to boot and ave and exit but it always just boots directly into windows. Just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, help me out plz!

My PC was compromised and I wanted to completely wipe any data on there. As I understand it DBAN doesn't just format the HDD but complete destroys all data on it by writing zeros on the entire drive instead of just deleting the memory tags (?) or something.

I'm open to other options that accomplish as long as all data is completely destroyed on the HDD. Would your solution do the same thing that DBAN does?
