Solution
Yes, a B250 mobo can support 7th gen Intel CPU and GTX 1060.

Upgrading to DDR4 isn't really about getting a big performance increase, it's just DDR4 is the new standard and that's what you'll have to go with if you want to use modern CPUs.
If the motherboard is a socket LGA1151 which is the same as the i5 6400 then it should work. However you have to use DDR3l ram. If you check the intel website for that CPU, it only supports DDR4 and DDR3l RAM. My suggestion is buy a DDR4 motherboard with the socket LGA1151 and buy DDR4 RAM. Hope this helps

Normal DDR3 is not supported by 6th gen CPU. Attempts to combine them ended in spectacular failures. DDR3L will work with this CPU, but unless you already have this kind of memory you are way better buying DDR4 RAM and DDR4-compatible motherboard.

Eh, not really, Skylake has no problem starting up and running with full voltage DDR3. The concern is that running Skylake with 1.5V RAM could damage the IMC in the long run (although I've never heard any reports of this happening).

yeah i had if i buy the new ram i will only have 4gb, if i choose 8gb i wont have enough cash to get the game i want but oh well a component is better than a game i cant play properly anyway. so yeah it would best

yeah i found a way to get both and b250 bord so i can support 7th gen and a gtx 1060 3gb? i should be able to play the games with this?? second is ddr4 really a huge improvement over 3?
