DDR CAS (CL) 2 v 2.5 THG what gives?

I'm a bit upset here. All of the THG articles that talk about DDR tell us that we should buy CL2 modules over CL2.5 for the performance benefits. However, I've spent the last 3 hours looking for CL2 PC2700 DDR modules and can't find very many. Not even Pricewatch or the THG buying tool through Bizrate has much to choose from? So if this stuff is so great, where can I find it?

It's in the spec.'s that you have to look. I had the same problem when I first started looking for it. Once you kinda figure that out, you'll find it all over the place. Oh yea, it is a lot better running cas 2.0 verses cas 2.5. You'll be glad you messed with it.

If it ain't broke, take it apart & see why not!

What are the numbers? 2-2-2-5 Because I've also seen 2.5-3-3 and 2-2-2 and 2-3-3 I think. I assume the first number is the CAS but what are the others? Thanks for your help

Scary, I just answered this on another thread today.

A little copy and paste... and...

The different timings are...

tCAS = Time for the Column Access Strobe

tRCD = Time RAS to CAS Delay

tRP = Time RAS Precharge

tRC = Time for a cycle, random read or write; It equals tRAS + tRP

IE. 2:2:2:5 = tCAS : tRDC : tRP : tRC
