Hi,
I have seen various questions regarding memory, but can't find an answer to this one.
I had 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz which Speccy reported as 800MHz, which I assume was correct as the way I understand it you double it for DDR?
But I have just added another 16GB DDR3 1600MHz, but Speccy now reports it as 666MHz.
Is this normal, or has something gone wrong?
Many thanks.

A DDR3 memory kit @ 1600 will perform as 1600 in total, so it's split up in 2 x 800mhz.
Check your BIOS-settings for that new ram kit.

Newly installed DDR3 memory usually defaults to DDR3-1333 speeds, AKA 666 MHz.

You should be able to just set it to DDR3-1600 in BIOS, though since you're mixing kits it may not always be as simple as enabling XMP and picking the 1600 profile.

No. You seem to be getting dual channel and dual data rate confused. Even a single DDR3-1600 memory stick will run at 800 MHz and a data rate of 1600 MT/s.

At the moment, I cannot get into the BOS settings. I get the BIOS screen up, but then only my up arrow, esc and y or n keys work. Return key is not working, so I can't actually see the various settings.
I shall persevere...

hum... that's an indication of a problem.... shut pc down reset bios (remove battery for 2-3 mins) then restart PC

I have moved it to USB 2.0 port. Don't understand why only some of my keys work. I am away for the rest of the weekend now. Will try to reset BIOS on Monday.
Thanks for replies, much appreciated.
