hey guys, i have an old motherboard that has 2 Dimm slots that can support 8gbs of ram. i currently have 4gbs ddr3 1600, my computer supports it but probably at a lower speed. i just wanted to make sure if i bought even faster ddr3 my pc would still support it. im ok with it only running at 1333 speed, i just want to make sure it will still work. i want to upgrade this computer one last time for windows 10, then use the upgraded ram in a new pc around black friday this year. my motherboard is the MSI GF615M-P33

i think im gonna go with this ram since its low profile and looks kewl: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104462

will my old pc still support ddr3 1866? thanks !

edit- also can running ddr3 1866 at a lower speed do any damage to it? or will it still run at full speed when i put it in a new motherboard in some months? thanks

does that mean my ddr3 1600 is made of low density chips? if i have 4gbs ddr3 1600 ram now does that mean i could put 8gbs of 1600 ram in this computer? thanks

edit- my current ram is Crucial Ballistix 4GB PC12800 DDR3 1600MHz, i dont know if that's low density or not but my motherboard supports it.

the ram is from 2013, im not sure what the model is but its 2 2gb sticks. if anyone has anything to add please do!

sounds good tradesman1, i think ill wait till i black friday then just get a new rig rather then trying to upgrade this one. thanks!
