I have an old computer that has bad RAM according to Memtest. (The pc had been BSOD and locking up on me) I want to buy new RAM for it. But I seem to remember something about the old G41 and/or G43 chipset requiring a particular type of DDR3 RAM. Something about single density or single sided or something like that. Can anyone help me verify what I need to look for?

I'm not sure right now if the board had the G41 or G43 chipset. I'm not near it at the moment. Does the G43 chipset have the same RAM requirements as the G41?

IIRC, G41 was picky and needed dual-rank (double-sided, in most cases).

I don't recall if the same was true for G43.

If in doubt, opt for a kit from the QVL for the motherboard (or at the very least, match up the specs).
