Hello guys and gals. I want to upgrade my PC and switch my FX-6300 with an i3-7100. I have 16 GB of DDR3 1.5V RAM and don't want to buy new RAM, the Mobo I want to use (Asus B150M-C D3 Intel B150) supports DDR3, can I use my old RAM with the CPU? If not, can I use the i3-6100?

Solution
That motherboard requires low voltage DDR3 ram, and will not support 1.5v ram.
DDR3 ram is in some demand, you can get about $70 for it on ebay.
A budget build may not really benefit from more than 8gb.

Lastly, there is not much difference between the I3-7100@3.9 and the cheaper G4620@3.7

don't listen those who claim Skylake processors don't work with DDR3 rams. I have been using a Skylake processor with DDR3 ram for over 3 years now without any problem. Motherboard died 5 days before its warranty expires (after 2 years and 360 days ), got a new replacement and it works too without a problem. I suggest you to go and check the motherboard's processor/RAM compatibility list. if it's there, then it works without any problem.
