DDR4-3000 vs DDR3-2400?

Deciding between the i5-6600k and the i5-4690k. The 4690 has better benchmarks and is much cheaper, but does not offer support for high-speed DDR4 memory. I'm an avid gamer, so I play lots of games ranging from RPGs like Skyrim to FPS games like Crysis 3. The original reason why I wanted to build a PC was to HEAVILY mod Skyrim (breath new life to justify more playthroughs). I'm willing to bet there's little (if any) difference in performance between the two sticks of RAM in Skyrim. In Crysis 3 is the difference something small like 5FPS or is it huge like 10FPS? If I'm losing 10+ frames by going with the DDR3 I'd rather invest in the 6600k with DDR4 RAM.

You FPS increase will be more like 0-1. There isn't much real-world measurable difference, especially at those speeds. I would only go faster if you were using integrated graphics, that's the best use for super fast memory.
