So, out of curiousity I was looking at the Asus ROG Maximus VIII Extreme Assembly. It's specs
state that the memory supported includes a range of DDR4 speeds.
Memory Standard
DDR4 3866*(*O.C.)/ 3800*/ 3733*/ 3600*/ 3500*/ 3466*/ 3400*/ 3333*/ 3300*/ 3200*/ 3000*/ 2800*/ 2666*/ 2400*/ 2133
So my question is this. Would I buy memory that is at 2133 and overclock it to 3866 (if possible), or do I just buy memory at 3866? This is all more for research than anything as I would assume the concept applies to other motherboards as well. Thank you for assisting with yet another question I'm sure you've all answered hundreds of times before.
