DDR4 8gb memory

I want to upgrade my laptop to 16gb of memory. My question is, I already have an 8gb in one of the two slots provided, can I just add another 8 gb of the same manufactor as the one I already have. It will be the same part number and everything.

I've done this before. On a older Sony VAIO I was very, very careful to get the exact duplicate of the stick that was already in there, and it worked great. On a later model Asus, I just bought the cheapest stick I could find, of the same size and speed, and it, too worked fine. Go figure. To be safe, though, I'd go with the duplicate of the original.
