Hello!
I have a Toshiba P300 2TB HDD, which this morning broke, i think. Because Whenever I turn on the PC, I can hear 4 beeps. If i unplug the HDD, the PC works perfectly.

I have seen a youtube video:

" drive's heads getting stuck on the platters. "

Would you recommend this procedure, as I have not done this before? As you also know the situation, I cannot go outside, I have to do this myself.

I think this might be the only way to repair it, if the head is stuck on the platter. But is there any other way?

Thanks!

Ideally you would unstick the heads in a micro-filtered "clean cabinet". The professionals either do it as shown in the video, or they use a head replacement tool to assist in the procedure.

No no a thousand times no.
He's not showing you the other 50 times when that went wrong.

This is when you put in a new drive, and recover your data from the backup you made before this happened.

I understand, Thank you so much for your reply.

I will send my HDD to a service then! In though I know it's quite expensive, but I dont have any other choice

Then the slider needs to be removed with a fishing line or some other tedious procedure. If the slider comes off while you are retracting the headstack, the end of the arm scrapes the platter, causing a great deal more grief.
