[SOLVED] Dead computer

Hi so my computer decided to die suddenly. We narrowed down the fault to what we thought was the motherboard GA-B75M-D3H so i ordered a new one from China. Three months later i installed it reconnecting all the leads etc only to find the computer is still dead. I've checked the PSU by connecting the green and black terminals together and the fan turns on but when its connected to the motherboard no fans working. Ive changed the cmos battery also just in case. Any ideas? I noticed that the paste between the cpu and the CPU fan is eroded but cant think that would cause the CPU to burn out (socket lGA 1155) and even if it is wouldnt the psu fan turn on? Any thoughts on this? Also posted this in Motherboards forum as i wasn't sure which one applies

have you check another component? cpu, ram, gpu, etc? it might be one of the component faulty.

What is your full systems spec ?

Have you try minimum boot ? just use the i7 and 1 stick ram, then try to boot.
and what type of i7 ?

Will try that just waiting for a power switch and beep speaker from ebay - i suppose i can bridge the power points though. Do i attach the cpu cooling fan also?

okay, maybe that's will help to find the issue.

is better to be attached. you don't have to apply thermal paste since you only try boot into post. You can apply that later if the systems working, so the paste not gonna be a waste.

Found out it was a faulty i/o module. Must have been a short on one of the USB sockets which actually prevented my computer from starting!!

In other word, a broken motherboard ?

No it was actually an I/o module which fits in the front of the case incorporating some usb sockets headphone socket on off switch etc Total cost about £7 from cooler master.https://www.cmstore.eu/spare-parts/cm-force-500-i-o-module/

Front panel PC ? Interesting, I never heard this issue before.
