Question Dead CPU?

System just died mid use the other day, assumed it was the PSU, however that's been changed remains much the same, tried all connections, reseating, etc. Remains the single red CPU light on the mobo (flashes one and nothing after) and remains dead as a door nail.

Also, not sure if it is pertinent, but with the changed over PSU, I didn't get the CPU led flash? Safe to assume the CPU has just gone at this point. Worth noting the rig is some 8 years old..... =] Any help/pointers would be appreciated before I just invest in a new system (was going to gradually do it, wasn't expecting wholesale changes

somthing happend before your PC died? - power outage, wetness, or somthing else?
simple things to try: change charger.
the computer turning on? ( turning on but not loading OS ? )

Nothing of note before hand, just turned itself (not a safe shutdown) off and wouldn't come back on, and no, nothing's spinning up, just the mobo light and the CPU occasionally, that's as much as it seems to work

very rarely do cpus just up and die usually its the motherboard that usually pops its clogs first check the board for any capacitors that are bulging. mainly around the cpu socket.

what is your systems specs ?

also change the battery in the motherboard should be a

2032 Lithium Coin Battery. since the system is quite old the battery may have died and its rare but some boards wont power up without a working coin battery. ​

check on the moteboard if is the any inflated batteries.
try to disconect any time diffrent connect from the motherboard - for an exemole, disconnect the hard disc from the motherboard and check if the issue continues, if is still continues try a diffrent connect like the USB and so on. this will verify if is the no somthing abbreviated.
is the a chance for damge of the mothrboard.
