[SOLVED] Dead fan

For a while my fan from the power supply made loud noises every now and then. Lately it was very quiet and I noticed that it didn't work anymore. The PC itself still worked fine though. Today I wanted to boot up to look for a new PSU, but it seemed not to recognize the main drive (the one with the OS) anymore. It came straight up with the BIOS settings and all that stuff.
Now I definitely need a new PSU ... I hope the issue didn't break my SSD.
Can I actually buy any PSU, meaning do they all have the same cables, etc? The dead one is a 500W one (ATX-500), nothing fancy.
Can you recommend a PSU?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

We're going to need a little more information. When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:

To add, where are you located, what is your budget for your PSU purchase and what sort of sites would you have a preference towards? If the time on the motherboard(after getting into BIOS) is being reset, I doubt it's the PSU, rather that you need to replace the CMOS battery on the motherboard.

CPU: Intel Core i3
Motherboard: ASUS Z 97-P
Ram: 16Gb Corsair
SSD/HDD: Samsung SSD 250GB/2TB WD
GPU: NVIDIA
PSU: ATX-500
Chassis: ?
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Monitor: 2 Dell U2415 24inch

Sorry, overlooked that last bit.

No the CMOS is fine.
I am located in the UK.
If you mean with sites preference where I like to buy the parts, well last time I bought them at amazon, CCL and AWD-IT, if I remember correct.
Price wise I don't want to overdo with the price, because I don't know how long the other parts will last. What would be too cheap for a decent PSU.

By the way I also noticed that the fan cooler on the CPU also stops sometimes, but that might be normal, because it's a cooler. Or am I wrong?

Your specs are incomplete. Nvidia is the brand of the GPU chip, what is the model of the GPU? You didn't mention the budget for your PSU purchase. A ? doesn't exactly help narrow down the make and model of your chassis. Perhaps add images to said chassis or look around said chassis for any identifying stickers or badges.

Solution
Thank you. In the end I just replaced the PSU I had with the same model and I am happy.
I am pretty sure I will need your advice soon for a bundle upgrade, but I need to research a little bit more.
