Diagnostic? What diagnosing did you do?

Looks like just the corner is cracked. It could still work.
I sent the gpu to a specialist. I haven't asked what diagnostics they have made but atleast visual + multimeter right? He also told me that it should work because the damage is too little. They are going to replace the cracked VRAM modules.
I kinda don't understand how I could chip the edge of the crystal... the memory cracked probably because the shim was too thick and displaced

The copper shim most likely also prevented the heatsink from laying flat against the top of the GPU silicon. That's probably what chipped the corner of the die. The corner chip is very tiny but it's possible that the stresses that caused it also raised internal stresses enough to create fine internal cracks in the silicon.

And last, putting so much pressure on the memory modules that it cracked the package seems likely to also have cracked solder balls on other memory modules...and the GPU too, of course, since it saw enough unequal pressure across it's surface to chip off a corner.

That would be my guess.

I wonder where I can get some money off it

Maybe the cooler. Sometime's people fans die and they need a replacement. Might get your $10-20 plus shipping. Whatever you do do NOT try to sell it and claim as is. The cracked chip with the new thermal paste means you knew about it and didn't tell anyone. You'll lose the decision.
