Hi,

My graphics card recently died. I had an R9 280x DUAL-X OC.The card is still working but I get atikmdag.sys BSOD after installing drivers. I think it has temperature damage on the VRAM chips perhaps. It works normally under windows basic drivers though, on high resolution. At this time I am stuck with this card, I tried to fix it and I had someone do a re-ball on it, but no luck.

I am looking for a replacement in this range but I am not familiar with the new RX series. I was thinking maybe RX 470? I would like at least a 3gb card to support higher resolutions. If I have to go with GeForce, will the 1050 Ti OC 4GB be a good choice? I am only worried about the 128bit bus.

What is your thought on buying used cards from Amazon/eBay? Is it worth it or will I get me some card from a mining rig with no life left in it?

What would be a good replacement for my card? I use my pc for gaming mostly and some other stuff. I would also like to note that I do not plan on exceeding my $220 budget. Should I go with an AMD card or nVidia? I am an AMD fan though, where I live it is ridiculous that I cannot find an AMD card because mining cryptocurrencies have gone crazy.

My system specs:
FX 8320 4GHz
6GB DDR3 1866 MHz Kingston
Gigabyte GA970 - D3SP
HDD 1 TB

RX 570 / 1060 3GB if u can find at a good price...
1050ti would be a downgrade from your old GPU imo....[or at very least, it'll perform on par, which means it should work as a replacement, make it as a last resort though]

i wouldn't use those GPU for anything higher than 1080p though....
