I have a GA-P35C-DS3R motherboard with a q6600.
I've been using 4x 1gb DDR2-6400 Crucial RAM.
I managed to overclock it to 333x9 = 3.0ghz which, has been stable for weeks - unless I play a hardware intensive game which causes it to crash (which I rarely do).
I had tried to push it further this morning, with some varied results but with no luck, I returned it to 333x9.
Later, I started to watch a DVD but after so long, the graphics corrupted and the computer froze.
Upon reboot, the graphics still remained corrupted (readable but almost like a pattern had been overlayed) and windows froze at the welcome screen.
So, I looked inside and everything seems to be working fine except for the amount of heat being generated by the ram, graphics card and chipset heatsink. I left the computer turned off for a good 30 minutes and restarted it to see if anything had changed. The original crash and graphics corruption remained. Yet, after the computer being turned on for a few minutes if that, the graphics card, chipset and ram were as hot as they were before.
I also tried each individual RAM module on its own but the same problems existed.
I have been reading about this motherboard and it seems the voltage controller is rubbish which leads me to think the motherboard has given up the chase.
Any ideas?
Cheers
