Hello everyone,
So my r9 270 died. My screen started jumping around and freezing during gaming. I'd get a black or beige screen with stripes and I would have to power down to restart. Eventually, my PC wouldn't get to the sign in menu and would just go black and freeze or go into Windows Recovery. GPU gets hot really fast upon start up.
I was dying to know if it was the GPU or something bigger, so I bought a tiny upgrade and got the gtx 1050 ti. I could only go into safe mode, so I decided not to uninstall my old GPU. I didn't want the screen to go black in safe mode too as I've heard stories.
So I put in the GTX and voila. I got into my sign in and was able to go to my desktop. The screen did turn blue for a second in the sign in page, so that scared me a bit. When I clicked it went back to normal. That's happened in the past, nothing major. Or is it?
My question is, is there a way to uninstall my old GPU without plugging it back in? (I know it's in the PC's best interest to uninstall old drivers before installing new ones) And it seems like my PC did not pick up the new GTX GPU, but is it because I need to go to the site and download the correct driver first? If I have a picture and am plugged into my new GPU, it is working right?
Thanks guys!
