After messing up my motherboard I had it replaced with a second-hand one, connected everything correctly, yet my PC remained silent.

I tested the PSU with a jumper test which it failed, still nothing.

But when I turned on the PSU switch it lit up this red "PLUG_8PIN_PWR" LED which isn't explained in the manual.

Could this mean my PC isn't getting enough power somehow and that maybe a cable got burnt?

I replaced the 850W PSU with a working 750W one but again, total silence.
I also took out most of my RAM sticks but I think one of it's PSU cables is dead.

Could anyone please help me out here? I'm going completely crazy from not being able to make music any more or play any games.

Thank you.

I FINALLY got the system to show some activity but then the code LED indicated "A2" ("IDE Detect") plus "BOOT_DEVICE_LED" was continuously red which could mean there's no OS installed. It didn't go into BIOS. I thought my ssd boot port was broken so I connected the boot drive to the pc using a USB port, which gave me the code "99" ("Super IO Initialization").
I'll try clearing the CMOS first.

Update, no change after disconnecting + re-connecting 24-pin/8-pin cable, removing and re-inserting memory, gpu followed by clearing CMOS (used a new battery).
Changing card slot did nothing.
Using latest BIOS version.

LED code first shows "64" ("CPU DXE initialization is started"), then "99" ("Super IO Initialization") which turns green (no blinking).
Doesn't seem to recognize my (Bitlocked) boot SSD using Windows 10 Pro but drive can be read using my laptop.

Waited for about 8 hours ("CPU DXE initialization is started" + "Super IO Initialization" made me presume the wait) but nothing, still the same.

Can try:
- using a GTX-670 instead of my GTX-1080
- using another 32Gb memory stick
- trying different memory slots
- using a Corsair AX750 PSU instead of the AX850 one (cabling is compatible)

... but will have to wait. Personal BSOD, hungry, haven't slept for 21 hours.
Eat + bed, sorry for being somewhat cranky.

PS: my Chinese astrology sign (Pig) indicated a disastrous year, no kidding.

You will not be able to boot from USB connected windows OS drive.
No point in doing that.

You changed motherboard. Then prepare to reinstall OS.
And bitlocker is whole another "can of worms".

I bought a new 24-pin/8-pin cable said to be compatible with my PSU, turns out is isn't, pc wouldn't even turn on any more.
So another return to amazon and frustration rising even further.
Maybe it's my CPU in which case it's game over; if I don't have it fixed by June 1st I'm saving for a new mobo, cpu, memory and Win 11 Pro, hoping I can still use my GTX-1080.

Fooled around with AVLinux on an old pc. Can't even play an audio cd out-of-the-box, had to type the path to the cd drive, then the cd would play but no app to control its playback. After a while I got a "Guru Meditation" aka Linux BSOD and a reboot.

Conclusion: will stick with Windows, another 2-4 months without being able to produce music (my reason for existing), hopefully my sanity will survive.
