Dead pcie primary

I have an older model xfx graphics card and the primary slot is dead. I have tried everything to switch the second slot to primary. How should I do it? Thanks

All you'd need to do is physically move the card. The second slot may not run at x16 tho. What motherboard do you have?

Yes I know. It's giving a 5d error code. It's a xfx nforce780isli motherboard. We have tried everything we can think of but on the screen it says to change back to slot one. Which Is dead.

The motherboard will not boot when the card is in slot 1 only in slot 2 or 3 and yes we have reset cmos and bios. The screen comes up saying to use the primary slot

Noticed what? If you reset CMOS then it shouldn't even remember the card in any slot.

What CPU do you have? Has it got integrated gfx?

We've done everything it won't reset. Intel cpurze no idea about the gfx. We are at our Wit's end with the damn thing. The screen doesn't even show up after power saving if it's in the first slot.
