[SOLVED] Dead psu?

My pc not turning on. Took out psu, did the paperclip thing - connected green wire with a black one on 24pin cable. Then started psu. Basically nothing happened. Does that mean that my psu is dead?

If you did THIS, and nothing happened, then yes, it's dead.

What is the make and model of psu?

On most psus bridging the proper pins should cause a fan to spin.

Though some psus may not begin to spin the fan if the psu is under low to no load, even when it is on.

Its a very old psu (about 12 years old). I bought new psu and my pc works. BUT, I got another problem, my screen now shows signal not detected, and now im looking forward to fix it.
