Dead RX 480 Strix, RMA for GTX 1060 Strix?

Recently my RX 480 Strix went bad (after some research on this forum it seems the memory went bad), I was able to open a RMA with Asus and after a few weeks I got an e-mail saying that the repair parts are out of stock and they offer me a GTX 1060 Strix. The RX 480 have 8GB vs the 1060 6GB and the 1060 have higher clock rates. How probable is that the RX 480 will start to outperform the 1060 as it gets more updates and with newer games?

Yeah as long as the 1060 is the 6gb version, then go for it. Pretty close in most newer games, the 1060 is still the faster card in the majority of games.

Nvidia are still releasing optimizations as time goes on also.
