Know good system, went out leaving system on, came back, system was off.
Press the power button and nothing happens, no beeps, nothing.

Followed the “do this first” thread, no change.

I think the power supply is good, using the supplied dectection tool with the power supply (evga 650 gt) the power supply fan will come on, connected hard drives, DVD drive and fans come on.

If the dectection tool is pugged in, the 12v 4 pin motherboard plug is removed but the GFX card is powered a fan connected to the motherboard will power up as well but on the other hand a USB light that stays on all the time irrespective of the pc being on or off will not come on (still works, checked elsewhere)

I have took out and checked the cpu, it appears to be in good condition, no burn marks or other obvious damage. Tried various combinations of ram sticks, still dead.

Any ideas? I’m leaning to the idea of the motherboard being dead.

How old is the PSU? Have you tried powering up the system while breadboarded?

PSU is maybe a couple of years old.
Not sure what you mean by “breadborded” I have unplugged everything that is not essential but haven’t tried it completely removed from the case.
