Have you tried the freezer trick?
Put it in the freezer overnight (in an airtight bag to limit/prevent condensation), then pull it out and wait for it to return to warm up a bit, until it's at the bottom of the manufacturer's "operating temperature" range (5 degrees Celsius on that model, I think). Put it back in your machine, and if you're lucky, it'll come back to life long enough to get your data off it. (Depends on why and how it died, obviously, but I've found it to work about 9 in 10 times over the years, on dozens of drives I've had to try to get data off of over the years.)
After that, you have a new doorstop or paperweight... and you generally only get one shot, so use it wisely.
