My sony is a 52" XBR and its 1080p... there is nothing blocky about it. 1080p on a 27" would look great. What planet do you live on?

a planet where I have a 27" with 2560X1440 res. My secondary monitor is a 24" with 1080p, and, up close, it's kind of blocky at that scale. Scaling it up would be terrible to me.

Those 27" displays are the poor mans 30" 2560 x 1600 version. Adults buy the big boys like mine.

I tried that Dell 27" and the colour depth (gamut) was terrible. It may be IPS but it's not wide gamut and my HP S-PVA looks about 10 times better.

Yes, indeed soldier. You enjoy your 30 fps gaming on your 2560x1600 display and I'll enjoy my 60fps gaming on my 1680x1050 display. Unless you want to fork out for a GTX680, that is.

You know, while this entire article/advertisement combo is pre-written by LogicBuy it's amazing how much they neglect to actually show deals that know about and list on their website that would actually be appealing and draw more attention. No doubt Tom's gets revenue with each "deal" (They tend to be terrible) clicked. Yet you take a deal like Diablo 3 for $28 which they list on their website http://www.logicbuy.com/deals/diablo-3-game/19366.aspx but not here where PC gamers can be easily found and marketed to. Or even the EVGA 680 with SC that comes with AC3 and Borderlands 2 for $430 http://www.logicbuy.com/deals/evga-geforce-gtx-680-sc-signature-video-card/42155.aspx
Sure it's not a great deal but it's not like the stuff that actually makes it to here ever is either. At-least the 680 would be fitting to advertise as you know this is Tom's Hardware after all.

If I worked for Tom's and handling advertisers was up to me I would be vastly annoyed with Logic Buy as it poorly advertises. That poor advertising and the failure to draw consumers in through such obvious neglect will actually cost Tom's revenue that could have been collected if they actually advertised the right deals that would actually appeal to the members/visitors to this site.

It is usually safe to assume that a person who spoils themselves with hardware will do it all around and get all high end. You don't see someone buying a i7-3970X sporting a 7770 for example. Of course those who feel the need to brag about something as minor as computer hardware (Compared to more impressive/important things in life) likely do not have anything to truly brag about.

I would not say that someone who buys a 2560x1600 display is 'spoiling' themselves. These displays can now be bought for the same price that a 17" CRT monitor cost 10 years ago.

Don't worry about soldier. He post the same stuff everywhere because he games at 2560x1600 res. I see him over in the steam fourms posting the same poor man comments. All his post always get thumbed down. I feel sorry for him.

His monitor size and resolution is above par to even the average PC gamer however. Which is why he brags about it. A 30" 2560 x 1600 goes for what around $1300 on the low end. That is likely matching or exceeding the price of average builders entire rig. Not sure where you're getting the 17" CRT figure from with a 10 years ago price. 2002 really wasn't that long ago and 17" CRT's were certainly not that pricy then.


Assuming he bought a "cheaper" monitor and spent $1300 on it I find it hard to believe that you would not consider that spoiling one's self. If you too happen to spend that much on a monitor I could see why you wouldn't think so. But as a person who could afford it but chooses to restrain to make needed pricy purchases that is spoiling in my eyes.
