This is an ideal drive for Windows XP or Vista or a computer that does not have AHCI because of its built in TRIM. If you have windows 7 or 8 WITH AHCI then get another faster drive.

wow 240gb for 144 dollars? i might have to invest in that deal. it's only a matter of short time now till when we see 240gb SSD's drop below 100 bucks.

I don't consider mail in rebates a deal. I only look at the price out the door. Rebates are a hassle to deal with. Then you have to wait for weeks on end to get the rebate. If you screw up on the rebate instructions you lose the rebate or it gets "lost" in the mail.

Further if you have a problem a week or two down the line and want to return the item for a refund you can't. Since most of these rebates require you to mangle the packaging to send them the barcode. Instead you have to wait two to six weeks for the manufacturer to send you a replacement.

So it is $175 for the SSD. I can get a Mushkin for $165 that is nearly twice the MB/s and three time the 4KB IOPS.
