This past weekend my computer stopped turning on, my step-father and other people on the internet have suggested that I try using a new PSU as that's usually the first thing to trouble shoot when dealing with power issues. I currently have a 1300 W gold certified EVGA power supply which was way overkill for my build but I got it 3 years ago because it was new and on sale on Ebay. Becuase I bought it off Ebay, I don't think I qualify for the 10-year warranty. I don't have a spare power supply in my house to test so I'm going to have to buy a new one, but I'm wondering if I should buy the same model I have in my pc, or buy a platinum certified PSU with lower voltage because they seem to be around the same pricepoint? The platinum EVGA PSU's I've seen on Amazon come in a P2 model and a PQ model, does anyone know the difference? Thank you for your time.

Here is my PC build, according to PCPartpicker, my build only takes in around 510W: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/BNWilliams007/saved/Yg2CmG

I don't believe EVGA have any such restriction. See if you can register the PSU online. If you can, you won't have any issues. Worst case, I believe they have an option to state "gift" in place of a place of purchase.

The G2 is a quality unit, and while you're correct that a PSU is a good place to start, a G2 is a bit less likely than some of the more common problematic units (although not impossible).

I see no reason for a 1300W, nor a 1000W even.

I'd recommend a quality 750W unit - however, a SeaSonic Focus+ Gold 850W is currently priced around the same as a quality 750W unit.
