Debian Compatibility with Wifi/Ethernet on new Motherboard (GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS PRO)

Hello,

I am a new Linux user. Unfortunately, i may have made one of the kinds of mistakes many new Linux users do. I have installed Debian 9.5.0 (with KDE) for 64 bit architecture on a new custom built PC. My motherboard is the new GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS PRO WiFi. It has WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet capability, but i did not check to see if this motherboard supports Linux. Now i have a very nice Debian Linux PC that I can not seem to connect to the internet to get any drivers for things like my graphics card, etc.

What can i do? Is there any type of rudimentary support for the Ethernet/WiFi on my Motherboard? If so, how can i get the information to my new PC without the use of package manager? Luckily i still have a laptop running Windows.... and a USB storage drive! Is there any way at all to get my motherboard agreeable with debian so i can get on the internet, or do i need to pick up a cheap networking card? I am more than willing to reinstall Debian from USB if choosing one of the NIC cards from the default list will help!

Thanks!

Hmm, I wonder if it is a matter of installing a newer kernel.

Try booting a live session of the latest Ubuntu to see if your network drivers work. If they do, you may be able to update Debian's kernel from that live session. I had to do this a few years ago, I'm searching around for good instructions.

I think i am already at the latest USB Bootable version, as this is what i used to install Debian in the first place, using their "Hybrid ISO" from the Live-CD section. See https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/

Edit: Sorry, I just noticed you said Ubuntu. Will that have a newer Kernel than Debian?! If i understand correctly, Ubuntu comes from Debian. Please advise. Thanks!

Debain is more of a distribution you compile instead of ez download and install.

I like Ubuntu, but I like the classic style desktops, So Xubuntu: https://xubuntu.org/
and Ubuntu-Studio: https://ubuntustudio.org/ are the Ubuntu editions I like.

EDIT:

In the debain circles Ubuntu's linux-firmware is maintained daily instead of annually (like Debain)
