Hello guys,
A few days ago I noticed a file named debug.log appeared on my desktop
The contents of the file are log entries looks like:
[0919/152448.340:ERROR:crash_report_database_win.cc(469)] failed to stat report
[0919/152448.340:ERROR:crash_report_database_win.cc(469)] failed to stat report
[0919/152448.340:ERROR:crash_report_database_win.cc(469)] failed to stat report
[0919/152448.340:ERROR:crash_report_database_win.cc(469)] failed to stat report
[0919/154053.029:ERROR:crash_report_database_win.cc(469)] failed to stat report

I googled it and usually it has to do with chrome browser errors or something
now the weird thing is i don't even have google chrome
so i have no idea what's going on or how to fix it
Thanks in advance

i thought this seemed familiar. its difficult to tell if that works or not given the person who said it doesn't wasn't the op of the thread. so it might...

You have to add switches to the end of your Chrome shortcut to enable it... it doesn't sound like something that would accidentally start happening.

try this
Delete (or just rename) the folder:

%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Crashpad

Restart Chrome.

DO you have the new Chromium version of Edge? Maybe its creating them instead? the difference between it and Chrome now are very minor.

seems it can also happen if you use Quicken - https://www.windowsphoneinfo.com/threads/debug-log.124982/

Hello and i'm so sorry for the delay
i have Edge installed but i never use it , only reason its there is because Microsoft is forcing it to be there lol
and i never use Quicken

Try using Process monitor - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-au/sysinternals/downloads/procmon - and log what is accessing the folder the files get created in

Set filter inside the Process Monitor to this folder, and it will show you when/if it is accessed:

Process Monitor is an advanced monitoring tool for Windows that shows real-time file system, Registry and process/thread activity.
If you think this folder is being accessed only during the boot process, you can enable boot logging by selecting the corresponding menu point under Options. When you boot Windows the next time, Process Monitor will log all system activity into a log file, which can be reviewed at a later time. You'll really need to enter a restrictive filter, otherwise your boot time will be really long.
